We are preparing to make temporary vows on Monday and then will be heading on out to Virginia. Temporary vows is a big deal for us, but it is packed into a modest celebration...so there isn't that much to do in terms of physical preparation. The excitement in the house is high; people are ready to get going. The other guys we live with will be heading to St. Bonaventure's for Franciscan studies this summer. And they will, without a doubt, be a prayer powerhouse for us throughout our pilgrimage, as we will be theirs.
But everything seems to be in place for the pilgrimage. We will leave here after profession and then go to Cincinnati, where we will have a commissioning service. On June 16 we will begin our trek through Appalachia. We will probably stop in and visit with our brothers in Kentucky. From there we will cross over into Virginia and begin on foot....A little anxiety, a lot of excitement! We are ready. -- Posted by Josh

I just learned about this wonderful Franciscan witness a few days ago. These friars have shown the world that, after 800 years, St. Francis' rule of life is still liveable. One comment in the Washington Post read, "The world needs more Franciscans." The seeds of many homilies are in this story. May God bless these young friars, and their formation directors, as they continue their Franciscan path.
